These Terms apply to services supplied by Thesis Tutors to individuals and, where relevant, organisations. Nothing in these Terms excludes mandatory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.
1. Applications, assessment and acceptance
Submitting an application, enquiry, document or booking request does not by itself create a confirmed engagement. Thesis Tutors may review the research stage, requested expertise, document condition, deadline, availability and academic-integrity considerations before confirming whether support can be offered. A service is confirmed only when Thesis Tutors communicates acceptance, scope, applicable rate and any relevant booking or payment instructions.
2. Scope of support and academic integrity
Thesis Tutors provides supplementary teaching, mentoring, coaching, feedback, proofreading, academic-language editing, methodological guidance, statistical/software tuition, viva preparation and related research-development support. The researcher remains the author and decision-maker. Thesis Tutors does not write assessed work for submission, fabricate or manipulate data, impersonate a student, complete examinations, guarantee grades/publication/admission, or replace the formal authority of a university supervisor, programme board, ethics committee or institution.
Clients are responsible for complying with the rules of their university, funder, journal, employer or other relevant body, including rules on plagiarism, third-party editing, AI and research ethics.
3. Rates, quotations and scope changes
Selected one-to-one research support starts from €45 per hour. Higher rates may apply for postgraduate/doctoral level work, specialist methods or software, subject-specific expertise, institutional work, urgent deadlines or complex review. Proofreading and document editing may be quoted by time, word count or fixed scope after the document or representative sample is reviewed. The applicable price will be confirmed before work begins.
If the client materially changes the scope, document length, deadline or service requirements after quotation, Thesis Tutors may revise the quotation before undertaking the additional work.
4. Uploaded documents and project materials
Clients may provide thesis/dissertation drafts, proposals, abstracts, chapters, supervisor/examiner feedback, rubrics, ethics documents, questionnaires, analysis output or related research materials for assessment and delivery. The client confirms that they are authorised to provide those materials. Files should not contain unnecessary sensitive personal data or third-party confidential information.
Uploaded materials are handled for the purpose of assessing and delivering the requested service and are subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection requirements. Where a file cannot safely or lawfully be processed, Thesis Tutors may ask the client to provide an alternative or redacted version.
5. Mentoring, supervision-support and consultation sessions
Sessions are supplementary to formal university supervision. Researchers should bring relevant programme requirements, research questions, feedback and materials. Advice is educational and based on the information available at the time. Programme-specific approvals, ethics decisions and final research choices remain with the researcher and their institution.
Recurring support does not guarantee the availability of one specific expert for every future session. Where necessary, Thesis Tutors may propose a suitable alternative expert or timetable.
6. Proofreading and academic editing
Proofreading may include grammar, punctuation, spelling, consistency and presentation within the agreed scope. Academic-language editing may also address clarity, sentence structure and readability. Structural or subject-aware editorial review may flag issues in organisation, signposting, logic or terminology but does not transfer authorship to Thesis Tutors.
Editors may use comments or queries where a passage requires an academic decision by the author. The client remains responsible for reviewing, accepting or rejecting suggested edits and for the final submitted version.
7. Payments, invoices and VAT
Payment timing and method will be stated in the quotation, invoice or booking confirmation. Thesis Tutors may require payment in advance for consultations, sessions, urgent work or defined document projects. Prices are shown in EUR unless stated otherwise. Any applicable VAT is handled according to the customer’s billing details and the tax treatment applicable to the transaction.
Services may be paused where an invoice remains unpaid. Any lawful recovery of overdue sums will be carried out proportionately and subject to applicable law.
8. Cancellations, rescheduling and withdrawal rights
Unless a different cancellation period is confirmed in writing, clients should request session changes at least 48 hours before the scheduled start. Late-cancelled or missed sessions may remain chargeable where lawful and clearly communicated. If Thesis Tutors or an assigned expert cannot deliver a confirmed session because of illness, emergency or another unforeseen issue, the normal remedy is rescheduling, replacement expertise or service credit, subject to applicable law.
Where a statutory withdrawal right applies to a distance or off-premises consumer contract, that right is preserved. If a client expressly requests that work begins during a withdrawal period, they may be required to pay for services already supplied to the extent permitted by law.
9. Expert matching and professional relationships
Thesis Tutors may match clients with experts based on discipline, methods, software, availability, language, degree level and the declared need. No match is guaranteed until confirmed. Official contractual, payment, complaint and scheduling matters should be handled through Thesis Tutors. Clients must not use the platform to bypass Thesis Tutors in a way that unlawfully interferes with legitimate business relationships.
10. Confidentiality, research data and personal information
Thesis Tutors will use reasonable organisational and technical measures appropriate to the service and will process personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Clients remain responsible for ensuring they have the right to disclose research data, participant information, employer information or third-party materials. Where possible, research datasets supplied for support should be anonymised or pseudonymised.
11. Research Room, free tools, templates and AI-supported features
Digital tools, templates, diagnostics, examples and AI-supported features are educational aids. They are not a substitute for institutional supervision, ethics review, statistical validation or professional/legal advice. Users are responsible for verifying generated suggestions and complying with their institution’s rules on AI and research practice. Availability of free features may change.
12. Deadlines and turnaround estimates
Any target date or turnaround estimate depends on receipt of the required materials, timely responses from the client, expert availability and the agreed scope. Thesis Tutors does not guarantee that a university, journal or third party will accept work by a particular deadline. Urgent work is accepted only when expressly confirmed.
13. No guarantee of academic outcome
Research outcomes depend on the researcher, institution, supervision, evidence, methodology, assessment and other factors outside Thesis Tutors’ control. No grade, pass, award, publication, admission, ethics approval or other result is guaranteed.
14. Complaints and service concerns
Concerns should be sent to [email protected] with sufficient information for the matter to be investigated, including the booking/application reference where available. Thesis Tutors will seek a proportionate resolution. Nothing in these Terms prevents an eligible consumer from using mandatory rights or dispute-resolution mechanisms available under applicable law.
15. Intellectual property
The client retains ownership of their original research materials. Thesis Tutors retains ownership of its own templates, tools, training materials, platform components and pre-existing intellectual property unless otherwise agreed in writing. A client may use delivered feedback and edits for their own authorised project but may not resell or republish Thesis Tutors proprietary resources without permission.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malta, without depriving a consumer of mandatory protections that may apply under the law of the consumer’s habitual residence where such protections cannot lawfully be excluded.
17. Number of hours, support programmes and quotations
Clients may request a specific number of hours or ask Thesis Tutors to recommend an appropriate support pattern. An indicated number of hours does not guarantee that every research need can be resolved within that time. If substantially more work is required, Thesis Tutors will seek approval before extending paid work beyond the agreed scope.
18. International clients and time zones
Thesis Tutors provides online support internationally. Clients remain responsible for complying with their institution’s rules and local requirements. Sessions are confirmed using an agreed time zone, and clients should check the converted local time before attendance.
19. Minors and guardian authority
Where support is requested for a person under 18, Thesis Tutors may require parent or legal-guardian details and consent before confirming services. The person submitting the application confirms that they are authorised to do so.
